Hutch is Now Vodafone

From September 21, 2007, Hutch has been renamed Vodafone. Vodafone had acquired 67 per cent in Hutchison Essar from Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa a few months ago, in a bid to enter the fast-growing Indian market.
The leading international mobile operator Vodafone will begin using its own name in India. Vodafone Essar announced that the Vodafone brand will be launched in India from 21st September onwards.
This transition is estimated to touch over 35 million customers across 400,000 shops and thousands of Hutch’s own employees, as well as employees of its business associates. This makes it the largest ever transformation for Hutch, considering the fact that in India, the brand itself has undergone several changes in the past.
Click the "read more" link for further detailed information..
.

Hutch's migration to the Vodafone brand has been completed on September 21st, but the pug that made the mobile company ever so popular with the masses will remain.

The re-branding marks the completion of UK-based Vodafone's acquisition of Hong Kong-based Hutchison Telecommunication Ltd's Indian assets in May 2007. The company was in July 2007 renamed Vodafone Essar.

India will now become the 26th country where Vodafone has operations, covering across five continents and 40 partner networks with over 200 million customers worldwide.

"This marks a significant chapter in the evolution of Vodafone as a dynamic and ever-growing brand. The brand change over the next few weeks will be unveiled nationally through a high profile campaign covering all important media," a Vodafone Essar statement said here.

Asim Ghosh, Managing Director, Vodafone Essar, said: We've had a great innings as Hutch in India and today marks a new beginning for us. Not as a departure from the fundamentals that created Hutch, but an acceleration into the future with Vodafone's global expertise."

Company Marketing and New Business Director Harit Nagpal termed the transition as probably the largest ever undertaken in the country. "It is even larger than our own previous brand transitions as it touches over 35 million customers, across 400,000 shops and thousands of our own and our business associates employees."

A Vodafone Essar spokesperson said the pug that has come to represent the company would remain.
The brand change over the next few weeks will be unveiled nationally through a high profile campaign covering all important media.
Vodafone Essar now has operations in 16 circles covering 86% of India's mobile customer base, with over 34.1 million customers.
It now has operations in 25 countries across 5 continents and 40 partner networks with over 200 million customers worldwide. Vodafone has partnered with the Essar Group as its principal joint venture partner for the Indian market.

The Vodafone mission is to be the communications leader in an increasingly connected world – enriching customers' lives, helping individuals, businesses and communities be more connected by delivering their total communication needs.

Over burn a CD to add some MB beyond normal size.

Overburning is the process of recording data past the normal size limit.
The overburn option may be used to burn CDs with a larger capacity than the CD-R/CD-RW would normally permit you to write.

Many disc manufacturers extend a recordable disc to leave a small margin of extra groove at the outer edge. This lead-out was originally intended to provide tolerance for the read head of an audio CD player should it overseek, by providing a padding of up to 90 seconds of silent digital audio.
Recording onto the lead-out is possible with some combinations of CD recorder and authoring software. The actual amount of data that a disc will hold depends ultimately on the recordable media and varies somewhat between brands of disc, with lead-out accounting for up to 10% of the total disc capacity.
Almost all CD-ROM drives are capable of reading from the lead-out. For this reason, software publishers have on occasion shipped their software on similarly oversized compact discs to reduce packaging costs.

Oversized discs have also been used as a form of copy protection because it is more difficult to record copies of them.

Most CD-R media is either 650MB or 700MB. The burning starts from the centre of the CD and works its way out but stops before the physical edge of the CD. Overburning, is burning past the limitations and onto the edge of the CD, this can result in slightly higher capacity storage.

The maximum overburn CD capacity cannot be determined automatically! You can try adding a few minutes to the capacity that is mentioned on your blank disc..

The ICC Twenty20 World Championship is the international championship of Twenty20 cricket. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is contested by all Test-playing nations (currently the only ten teams officially allowed to play the longest form and highest level of cricket), plus qualifiers.
The inaugural ICC Twenty20 Cricket World will be taking place in South Africa in September. The games will be staged across the country at three venues; Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead in Durban and Wanderers in Johannesburg. All grounds have been associated with the game of cricket for a long time and are sure to be perfect venues for this world-class event.

The format of the games will be similar to the Cricket World Cup. There will be three groups of 4 which will be followed by a Super Eights section, before the Semi Finals and the Final.
There will be 2 days of warm up matches taking place before the main tournament gets underway on Tuesday 11 September.

The Laws of cricket apply to Twenty20 with some exceptions:

* Should a bowler deliver a no ball by overstepping the popping crease, it costs 2 runs and his next delivery is designated a free-hit, from which the batsman can only be dismissed through a run out, for hitting the ball twice, obstructing the field or handling the ball, as is the case for the original "no ball".

* Bowlers may bowl a maximum of only 4 overs per innings.

* Umpires may award 5-run penalty runs at their discretion if they believe either team is wasting time.

* If the fielding team do not start to bowl their 20th over within 75 minutes, the batting side is credited an extra 6 runs for every whole over bowled after the 75 minute mark; the umpire may add more time to this, if he considers the batting team is wasting time.

* The following fielding restrictions apply:
o No more than 5 fielders can be on the leg side at any time.
o During the first 6 overs, a maximum of 2 fielders can be outside the 30-yard circle.
o After the first 6 overs, a maximum of 5 fielders can be outside the fielding circle.

* If the match ends with the scores tied and there must be a winner, the tie is broken with a bowl-out (similar to a penalty shoot-out in football), with 5 bowlers from each side delivering 2 balls each at an unguarded wicket. If the number of wickets is equal after the first 10 balls per side, the bowling continues and is decided by sudden death.
