Maximize your downloading speed from Utorrent

People think that it is difficult to download file from torrent, I also had the same thought initially when I got my internet, but it is also true that if you want better quality then you need to share file from torrent.
There are many torrent client are available , but I personally use and also suggest others to use Utorrent to download torrent file. Initially I had to face a lot of problem in downloading torrent file, then I got a tweak or you can call it a perfect setting for Utorrent..
this brilliant tutorial or setting to optimize Utorrent for its maximum speed is originally posted by Mr John, check his web page here
Here is the detail of the tutorial...

Step 1 : Open Utorrent then go to Options>Preferences>Network

1. Under ‘Port used for incomming connections‘ enter any port number. It is best to use a port number above 10000. I use 45682.

2. Randomize port each time ?torrent starts: UNCHECKED
leave this unchecked because if u have router. If you do not have a router or a firewall, and want extra security, check this option.

3. Enable UPnP port mapping (Windows Xp or later only): UNCHECKED
leave this unchecked because I have experienced it slowing down speeds. It is not needed if you manually port forward.

4. Add ?torrent to Windows Firewall exceptions (Windows XP SP2 or later only): UNCHECKED (do this only if you have windows firewall disabled)

5. Global Maximum upload rate (kb/s): [0: unlimited]: 22 (for 256k connection)

6. Protocol Encryption: ENABLED
I would recommend everyone to enable this. This can help increase speeds with many ISPs.

7. Allow incoming Legacy Connections: Checked.

Step 2 : Options>Preferences>Torrents

1. Global Maximum Number of Connections: 130 (for 256k connection)
This number should not be set too low or the number of connections made to your torrents will be limited. Setting it too high may cause too much bandwidth to be used and can cause slowdowns.
2. Maximum Number of connected peers per torrent: 70 (for 256k connection)
If you see that the peers connected to a specific torrent are exactly this number, or very close, increase this number to improve speeds.
3. Number of upload slots per torrent: 3 (for 256k connection)
This depends on how much you want to upload to other users. Do not set too low or it may affect download speeds.

4. Use additional upload slots if upload speed <90%:>Maximum number of active torrents: 2 (for 256k connection)
6. Maximum number of active downloads: 1 (for 256k connection)
7. Enable DHT Network: CHECKED, This is recommended to be checked to improve speeds. More people will be available for sharing if this is checked.
8. Enable DHT for new torrents: CHECKED
9. Enable Peer Exchange: CHECKED
10. Enable scrapping: CHECKED
11. Pre-allocate all files: CHECKED
12. Append .!ut to incomplete files: UNCHECKED

Step 3 :
Options>Preferences>Advanced.

If you use Windows XP SP2, patch tcpip.sys with LvlLord’s Event ID 4226 Patcher to get better performance.

net.max_halfopen: 50

DO NOT CHANGE THIS OPTION unless you have Windows XP SP2 and have patched tcpip.sys.
You can also patch tcpip.sys with xp-Antispy

If you have a firewall…
Open up the options/preferences/settings for the firewall - usually your firewall will have an icon to click in the taskbar
Look for the keywords “allow list” or “programs”
Add the application you want to give access to the internet
Make sure to save your settings when you are done

If you have a router…
Go to start>run>type cmd, press enter>type ipconfig, press enter
Remember both your ip address and your default gateway
Type in your default gateway into your default browser, a password prompt may come up. The default username and password are admin for my router
Under ‘Applications’ fill out one line for each p2p client you use
You need to use your ip address, the correct port range and set either tcp or udp
You can find and change the ports in the actual p2p client’s settings, just make sure they are the same in the router
Most p2p apps need both tcp and udp checked, if you are not sure check your p2p client’s FAQ
Save your settings

Check PortForward.com to forward ports for uTorrent.

All these setting are applied here are related to john's bandwidth, i applied this and it is really working, You also need to calculate your optimal setting for your connection . This is what john had to say about how to calculate optimal setting for your connection, check it from here ..

Apply these setting and enjoy downloading from torrent.. If you Know any other tricks to increase uTorrent’s download speed? Please share them here....

Animation , With Stick-figure Animator.

Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. It is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision. This could be anything from a flip book to a motion picture film
There is no single person who can be considered the "creator" of the art of animation, as there were several people doing several projects which could be considered various types of animation all around the same time. (Short, hand-drawn animation scenes could be presented with the Phenakistoscope, the Zoetrope, and other optical "toys" already in the early 1800s.)

Would you like to do something like this....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Don't worry these are not flash animation, also i am not talking about those costly animation software like 3ds max or Maya etc..this is a freeware software known as “Pivot stickfigure animator”, you can get it from the original site of the pivot animator.
Or get it from here: version 2.2.5(size : 485 kb) (developer : peter bone)

Check out this also..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Pivot
is downloadable freeware created as a way to make it easier to create stick-figure animations. The software allows the user to create stick figure animations easily and without any artistic skills. You can move the sections of the stick figure and create a chain of animation frames that can be previewed as you go. You can use more than one stick-figure in the animation, and even create your own stick figures using an easy to use visual editor that lets you assemble objects out of lines and circles. You can build your own stick figures and load your own backgrounds. In addition, you can optionally set animation size, speed and more. The animations can then be saved as animated gifs to be used on web pages.

A complete tutorial or guide from the msn group for pivot animator is available here

Enjoy a Happy and a Sleep'y Downloading , During 2 to 8.

It is really difficult for us to use the full length of free hour or the happy hour, i.e (2 am to 8 am) from BSNL data-one broadband (Rs 500plan) which give a limit of 2.5 GB of data transfer during normal time, if we want to download something like game , movie or some big file then we really need to use the full length of free hour, but it is not possible for us to wake up at 2’0 clock in the night and start up the computer manually to start downloading the file… In that case we need an automatic way, in which the computer will start automatically at 2’0 clock and start downloading the given file. Many third party software are available for automatic startup, but they do not work properly.

While searching through the tutorial section of thinkdigit forum, one person named
"yrana2002" has really posted a very good topic regarding automatic startup of computer without any third party software. I personally tried it and its really working for me…

Here are the step by step process for that :

Step : 1. Configure your BIOS, for an automatic start up .

Instead of using third party softwares for automatic startup, we use a utility now available in most BIOS.
Note: This one is for Phoenix Award BIOS
(1) Enter your BIOS at bootup by pressing del, F1, enter, etc.

(2) Go to Power Management Tab and select the option of Automatic Power On.

(3) Chose The Option for Scheduled Power on-> Set it Enabled-> Set it Daily-> Enter the time as 02/05/00 for dataone->Chose Startup Sequence as Automatic-> Press Esc.->Got to Exit and choose Save & Exit.

Note: You may change the timings as per your appropriation. However, bsnl's clock may not match with yours.

If u use passwords for logging in, you can follow these steps:

(i) Go to the Start Menu and the Run box.

(ii) Type in the following:

control userpasswords2

now click OK

(iii) In the new Windows that appears select the account you wish to make the primary logon.

Now uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password..." box.

(iv) Hit Apply and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selected users password.

Step : 2. Configure your download accelerator or bittorrent client.

This section explains how to configure torrent clients for automatic startup & downloading.

It uses a windows utility called as 'Task Schedular'
.

To open it,
Go to Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Scheduled Tasks.

(1) Click Add a new task.

(2)A windows will appear. Select Next

(3)Select your torrent client from the list or click browse & then click next.

(4) Select the option of daily"Daily" and click next.

(5) In the start time column, fill in 2:10:00 AM and select Everyday and click Next.

(6) There will be fields for username & password. The username field would have been filled automatically. If not, then enter the username you use to log on to your PC. In the password section, enter your password, if you use one. If not, leave them blank and click next.

Note: If u dont give a correct password or no password, then it will give you an error. Do not worry, check at the end of this section

(7)
When the task is created, right click the task and select Properties.

If u have not entered the password or have got an error when adding the task, select 'Run only if logged on'.

(8) Click The Settings Tab.
Check "Stop if task runs for" and enter values as 5 hours 37 minutes. ( again it depends upon you). Click Ok.

This configures your client to run at 2:10 A.M. and shut down automatically at 7:47A.M.

For configuring the client settings, ( Here is an example of Bitcomet)
Click Prefereces-> Go To appearance and check the options of 'Auto -resume tasks on startup'.

This ensures that whenever the client starts, it will automatically start downloading the tasks.
Imp: Whenever closing the client, ensure that you don't stop the tasks or else the next time, they won't start automatically.

Some users may be using DAP as their download managers. For them,
1. Start Download Accelerator Plus->Go to Tools Menu->Options.

2. In General, check "Launch DAP on startup".

3. Select Schedular and check "Start Schedular at" and select Daily and enter start time as 2:10:00 A.M. and also check "Stop Schedular at" and enter values as 7:50:00 A.M.
You may also want to shut down the pc. For that check the options...
'Hang up Modem', 'Quit Download Accelerator' and 'Shutdown computer'.
Click close

Step : 3. Make a new schedule task for an Automatic Shutdown.
Now, the final step is shutting down the pc after the downloading.
We saw how it can be done with DAP above.
For others, here's a guide..
(1) Right click on the Desktop.
Left click on New > Shortcut.

(2) In the Type the location of the item: textbox enter
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s
Click the Next > button.

(3) In the Type a name for this shortcut: textbox enter Shutdown. Click Finish.

This creates a shortcut on the desktop which shuts down the pc.

(4) Now, again go to Task Schedular->Add new task.
Choose the file "shutdown" just created. Click Next..

(5) Again, select perform this task Daily, choose start time as 7:53 A.M. Click Next...

(6)
The username field would have been filled automatically. If not, then enter the username you use to log on to your PC. In the password section, enter your password, if you use one. If not, leave them blank and click next.

(7) Click Finish. Now, again right click on task, click properties and ensure that the 'Run only if logged on' box is checked. Click OK.

Now, the procedure will be as follows:

Startup at 2:05 AM,
Client Starts at 2:10 AM ( Download start at 2:10AM)
Client stops at 7:47AM ( Download stop at 7:50AM)
Computer shuts down at 7:53 AM.

This wonderful tutorial was originally posted by "yrana2002" it really worked very well for me and I thanks him for this.
